Getting rid of surplus household and personal goods: furniture, clothes, electric
appliances, kitchenware, etc.
Shop around.
Ask for quotes on the cost of transporting your possessions from at least
three different transport companies. Click here for a list of removals companies.

For example, if you are selling your property, cancel the policy, if renting
out your house, you´ll need to change the policy accordingly.
Look at your life insurance policies, especially if you are near retirement.
You can either keep paying them on a direct debit through the bank or you
can put them on hold until the date of your retirement.
NIE or Residencia -national ID.
Although for members of EU countriesm the NIE is no longer strictly necessary
it is still advisable to apply for it if you are intending to purchase property
in Tenerife. Those with NIE and Residencias are eligible for tax breaks that
do not apply to those who have not obtained this documentation.
Pare down your possessions.
When buying or renting a property in Tenerife you will often find that it
comes fully furnished. You may also find that the property you settle on here
in Tenerife is much smaller than the home you have elsewhere in Europe.
Prepare yourself for either eventuality by ruthlessly paring your belongings
to the minimum over your prepatory year. (Yes, you really can live without
out the Blackpool souvenirs the grandkids bought you over the years.)
Sling the sweaters...
Although you will need a few warm jumpers for cooler nights in November to
Febuary, you will find no use for a wardrobe full of woolly pullies, scarves,
thermal undies and padded jackets. Honest!
Retiring to Tenerife
If moving to Tenerife on your retirement, apply for an E121 form rather than
an E111 while still in Britain. It is simpler to obtain the E121 while still
in Britain and it allows you access to the medical social system.

Tenerife real estate has never been easier to find
If you are thinking about moving to Tenerife, but haven´t quite convinced
yourself (or your spouse) that it is a good idea, here are some reasons to
go ahead and make the move.
Climate: The weather in Tenerife is hard to beat. Just off the African coast,
on the same latitude as Florida, Tenerife enjoys year round sunshine, which
means you can be on the beach sunbathing in January, golfing in February,
windsurfing in March and never have to think of heavier clothing than maybe
a light cardigan for the late night barbeques in December.
Proximity: One issue that often gives prospective expats second thoughts is
the prospect of leaving friends and family behind. Considering that Tenerife
is a short four hour flight from Britain, with more than 200 flights per week
all year round from 30 different airports in the UK, you never need to feel
homesick or lonely for your family. You may even see more of them here than
you did back home as your parents, children or siblings discover what a great
place Tenerife is to spend their holidays.
Peace of Mind: As part of the European Community, your investment in Tenerife
is protected by European laws and building regulations. (In other words you
are afforded the same protection here as you would receive in Britain!) Excellent
medical facilities and schools, both English and Spanish are available at
reasonable prices. British pensioners have access to reciprocal medical treatment.
Home from Home: With a British population of around 30,000 residents out of
a total island population of 600,000 you have easy access to British foods,
newspapers, television, books, however with the large Canarian population
you don’t have to go far to enjoy the local culture and cuisine.
Cost of Living: As a holiday maker you may have noticed that eating out, drinking,
cigarettes and petrol are much cheaper here than in the UK. For the British
who live here and use the hypermarkets and local restaurants the difference
is even more profound but there are other advantages you may not have thought
of, like no heating bills, rates that average around GBP100 a year and a one-climate
wardrobe.
Tenerife Island: From Mount Teide at 12,000 feet with its dramatic volcanic
landscapes to sandy beaches and lush tropical forests in the north, Tenerife
is a collection of microclimates and it is hard to imagine more variety on
any other island of a similar size.
Canarian Culture: Every town and village in Tenerife has its own fiesta where
giant paellas are cooked, lively Canarian music is played, local handicrafts
are demonstrated and sold and the people turn out in their best clothes to
promenade and enjoy the spectacle with their family and friends. Second only
to Rio De Janeiro, the Santa Cruz Carnival is a world class event lasting
for three weeks every February/March. Visitors and performers arrive from
all over the world to participate and enjoy the entertaining, spectacular
and culinary extravaganza.
Cuisine: It is true that the great British breakfast, beloved of holidaymakers
in the resorts of Las Americas, is alive and well on the island, however for
the more adventurous there are a number of first class restaurants in the
countryside specializing in Canarian and Spanish food. On the coast in any
of the fishing villages in the South there is a mouthwatering variety of the
freshest seafood available at incredible prices. On the international side
in the South we have Thai, Indian, Belgian, French, Moroccan, Lebanese, Chinese,
Swiss, German, Italian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Japanese …
Activities: Every type of water sport is catered for from big game fishing,
excellent windsurfing and diving to sailing and angling. On land there are
six golf courses in the South, many tennis and bowling facilities, stables
for horse riding, aquaparks, zoos, natureparks, and there are wonderful walks
and trails for all levels of hikers.
Way of Life: Ask anyone who lives in Tenerife if they have any regrets and
the usual reply is that they wish they´d came here sooner. The way of
life in the Canaries is more relaxed. People have more time for other people
– they smile more, feel healthier, are more active and generally get
more out of life.

The Canary Island
The Canary Islands consists Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, which
read the province Palmas form, and several uninhabited rock islands of the
islands Teneriffa, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, which belong to the
province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife,: Alegranza, Graciosa, Montaña Clara,

to Fuerteventura. The Canary Islands, are appropriate for 27 in the Atlantic
ocean northwest from the African continent between that. Degree of latitude,
37 minutes, and that 29. Degree of latitude, 25 minutes north, a little more
than four degrees of the turning circle of the cancer far away, that by La
Havanna goes -und between that to 13. Degree of longitude, 20 minutes, and
that 18. Degree of longitude, 10 minutes, west of Greenwich.
The islands owe their all year round pleasant climate, their subtropical character
and their eternal spring to this situation, because the differences between
the different seasons are very small. In addition they became by their situation
in the Atlantic and in the proximity of the African coast nearly inevitably
stations of the maritime traffic between Europe, Africa and America.
Everyone particulars of the Canary Islands, has its own unmistakable attractions
and is from different and singular beauty. In the course of a set of volcanic
eruptions, whose long process is not yet final, they all emerged from the
tides of the sea. One finds a whole set of landscapes: from impressive summits
and mountains to the most remote valleys, between which wild-like quilts,
bizarre rock, krater and forests of fairy taleful beauty lie. Each island
resembles a miniature continent and their landscapes is so varied that they
remind of different places of all possible areas of our planet, where both
the Kiefer, the laurel tree, the palm, to which chestnuttree and the Cactus
prosper magnificently.Administratively specific characteristics, both on the
distance of the European mainland to the Canaries, apply and to reasons of
own historical tradition and the characteristic canary economics to attribute.(so
there is not the European increase in value tax regulation for example on
the Canary Islands.) Otherwise they are integrated into the European community
and form one of the seventeen autonomous administrative districts of Spain.
Mortgages can be secured
on the property that you purchase in Tenerife without affecting your existing
property and the low interest rate is generally more advantageous than that
currently being offered in many European countries.
Your new property will itself act as security for the loan, so if you thought
that a quality apartment on the sunshine island of Tenerife was beyond your
means, then think again and let Tenerife Property Shop S.L. show you how to
make a very wise investment that will also give you years of enjoyment.
